honestly anon, as long as you don't go around correcting the labels people have chosen for themselves, you're far and beyond the courtesy of a lot of folks.

and frankly, as far as asexuality is concerned, whether someone is one long stream of labels roughly meaning "asexual" or another, it probably won't matter in your interactions with them.* it might if you're interested in starting a relationship with them, but if that's the case i don't think knowing that they label themselves a demigrey-A-panbiromantic-sex-indifferent-enthusiast-but-only-once-in-eight-blue-moons will help as much as just sitting down and talking with them about what they want, what they're open to, and what they're expecting.

*i'm not saying those labels aren't without their place, but i think i'm inclined to go along with what tyger66 said, in that they probably have more use on a personal level than an interpersonal one (especially when the meanings of these terms get as muddied as they are). I'm not anti-labels by any means, I guess I just don't want you to get to stressed out if they go over your head? Like I said, just make sure you aren't pretending like you know more about other people's sexualities than they do themselves.
