In my case, the person in question commissioned a (paid) translation from me, then posted it to an LJ community for that fandom, only without credit. I was okay with that, but I did PM her asking if she wouldn't mind leaving my name on the translation (she'd literally deleted "By (ariakas)" part but left the rest intact) because it would help serve as a form of advertisement for me. She never messaged me back, or edited the entry.
I commented on the entry proper saying "if anyone's interested in more translation like this, just give me a shout at (contact info)" and let that be the end of it. But a couple of months later she posted another translation of mine to a different community that I wasn't a part of (but a friend tipped me off to) not only with my name removed, but with hers in its place.
That was the last straw. I PMed the mod of that community about the issue, and she told the poster in question to edit the entry and post an apology. When the poster refused, the mod deleted the entry and banned her. Most communities (and most sites, like deviantart) depend on original work for traffic, and so take a very dim view of plagiarism. Just message the moderator or administrator about the issue. You're probably never going to get their friendship back now that you've called them out for doing something that shitty to you, so all you can do is keep them from hurting someone else. (Which the often will - if someone plagiarizes, it's usually because they see no problem with it.)
