random costume question

So I'm going as Minnie Mouse for Halloween. I bought a SUPER CUTE dress online (just came today and it fits, phew! The accessories (Ears, gloves, shoes) I bought at Disneyland.

The only thing is... the "shoes" are actually slippers. (These: http://www.themeparkshopper.com/catalog/disney050808090.jpg) The shoes are stuffed and the bottoms aren't very sturdy. And I'm planning to go out on the town on Halloween- not sure exactly what I'l be doing, but probably walking around a fair bit and going to bars/clubs.

So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to mod the slippers so they'll stand up to being worn out? I thought about just super-gluing some cardboard on the bottom, but I figured I'd ask you guys if you had any better ideas.

If you only plan on wearing them once, they'll probably hold up, unless you're planning on going dancing at a crowded place or literally racing through the street. Otherwise...yeah, I got nothing.

Maybe use the soles off a cheap pair of flip flops, superglued to the bottom?

Sounds like a cool costume though!

Cardboard is a really bad idea. It's super slippery and can easily lead to injuries.

Is there a way you could cut out the bottoms and make the slippers fit over regular shoes? Kind of a cap for your shoe.

I'm not sure how well cutting the bottoms off would work... I think I'm gonna just go with duct tape, would that be less slippery than cardboard?

I'd probably just invest in a pair of Chuck Taylors and use those instead. Both black and yellow could work with a Minnie Mouse costume. You'd at least be comfortable when you're out and about, and you can use them with your ordinary clothes later.

I second the 'use a pair of flip-flops' notion. They'll hold up well, have texture so they'll glue successfully, and they won't give you any kind of weird height issues or anything.

Alternately, you could get a piece of heavy leather scrap from a place like Tandy or something and glue that to the bottom. Gorilla Glue springs to mind.

Just take a pair of small slip on pumps with you or something and wear those for when you're walking around between bars, then pop them in your bag and put the Minnie shoes on when you're inside. A bit of a pain, but thats the lazy option.
