I don't feel any sexual attraction to him, but in allllll my WoW years he's definitely one of the most awesome characters I've come across. Some pixels shouldn't be as charismatic as he is.

It helps that he has a great VA. Communicates warmth, humor, and bass-assery all at once.

Is it just me, or is the voice acting in general way more on point in this expansion? I have yet to hear anyone who makes me cringe the way some VAs in the past have, and some of them (Chen, Li Li, Riko) are just excellent.

Well, it's not JUST you, since I'd have to agree.

(Though WTH is going on with high elf/night elf voices? Dunno if you play Horde or Ally, but atm I'm leveling Ally toons and that Ren guy is like ... all human-y sounding now. Yuck1 I want the velvety purr back!)

Anyhow, in general all the panda voices are great, and the various spirits. Though my favorite bit so far is the Sunwalker in White Tiger Temple who has that comment to Anduin that ends, "Have you MET our Warchief?" ~ Makes me chortle every time.

That was one of my biggest pet peeves with the game too, was the TERRIBLE voice acting, but I'm a huge VA nerd so there's that. And I'm glad Anet stepped up to the plate in that regard for Guild Wars 2, cause oh man the VA in the first one was bad as old school wow. Interestingly enough Blizzard has made a habit of tucking decent voice actors/actors into their stuff but not crediting them, so unless you back track relentlessly on a "Hey, so and so character sounds like this person..." It's not always easy to notice.

The only big reason I regret not opting to play MoP for the moment is that I was super excited to have a chubby girl race besides tauren ladies ( Who are not really that chubby, just comparatively so to ever other female in game) but between not having any other good reason besides that, and the monthly fee, I opted for other games.

Heh, well, there's always dwarf women. (Rolled a dark iron-hued destro warlock, fun fun).

(You know, the only two voices I realllllllly can't stand in WoW are Kael's and Jaina's (well, and just about every other human female). The wibbly-wobbly they did with Tyrande's accent was sort of weird as well.)

I agree about GW2 - I especially adore Eir Stegalkin's voice, and my male human necro. (Though it is weird thinking "Hey that's Fenris!" about half the Sylvari NPCs.)

LOL that bit killed me! I hated Tyrande's voice & I miss Ren's old voice too

At least in the Well of Eternity dungeon, it always sounded to me as if Tyrande had acquired Aggra's sound files!

(Content aside, I didn't mind Aggra's voice, but it was weird .... just another woman of Azeroth coming down with Stepford flu, I guess.)

According to the behind the scenes dvd, they actually went with actual voice pros from the Screen Actors Guild this time. (I have no idea if they have before, but they way it was mentioned makes me think not, or at least not a lot.)
