Age of consent in Japan is thirteen (technically, in practice the overwhelming majority of prefectures set it much higher, but some don't).

Would that not be paedophilia?

As far as I'm concerned, yes it is. I don't care the country or the traditions or the morality involved, I don't care if it's accepted by the majority, it will never be okay for an adult to be in a romantic and/or sexual relationship with anyone under 18 (and even at 18, it would depend on the age difference between the two). The power imbalance is just too fucking gross/creepy/wrong.

So you're saying that you cannot ever criticize another culture? In my country, the age of consent is 14, but I (and most people) find it fucking disgusting if an adult fucks anybody who is under 16. Am I allowed to at least criticize my own country, or other countries where the age of consent is also 14, or should I just shut the fuck up and accept that years ago, some proto-necbeard decided that he wanted to fuck young girls and made it legal, so I should accept is as a legit ~cultural norm~?

In some places, it is accepted to stone women who committed adultery, kill baby girls, circumcise girls, fuck 9 year old girls, kill gays, commit genocide in the name of religion, why not accept all of these, I mean, they are/were part of some peoples' ~culture~, so we shouldn't criticize them because criticizing another country makes us xenophobic colonist pigs. Sounds legit and totally not like the idiocy of an Internet ultra-liberal college freshman who just started their social studies and thinks that because they have spent 20+ hours of misinterpreting their instructor's teachings they now know everything about the world. Nope, not at all!

Kind of reminds me of the SJWs who attacked me a few weeks ago for being against certain religious practices.

Err, yes it is wrong to manipulate a woman into covering up her entire body just so men won't get "tempted" to rape her.

I don't give a crap about their religion or culture if they endorse unequal treatment of people. That doesn't make me a xenophobe. Especially when I treat every religious practice like that, not just the ones that aren't Western.

And when I think back to when I was fourteen - I wanted to have sex with a certain 22-year-old, but today I'm more than glad he never agreed to do it, because I really knew nothing about my body at that age and more importantly: I didn't even know what I wanted. I thought I wanted sex I had seen in pornos, I was brainwashed by my culture to want a man to use me for sex, just so I wouldn't be a "virgin" anymore.

Today I know I would have regretted it so much.

If you are a teacher in the same establishment as the student then the student must be 18 to legally consent in the UK.

If you are a teacher in another establishment then the 16 year age of consent stands
