Re: b): That's my answer as well. Applying scars, let alone applying them in the same places, would be costly and time-consuming. Also: a bitch. OP, you have to find fandoms where the actors get scars pre-series and/or on the job and wear bandaids as if they were never hurt and we're not supposed to notice, lol.

I seem to remember that in Firefly, Malcolm got himself stabbed in the shoulder in one episode, and then a few episodes later, he's missing his shirt, and the scar is still there. I don't know if maybe it's a scar Fillion has, but I remember being impressed that they bothered to put it there.

Doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's kind of nice.
