Well...yes.

Though to be fair, event comic artwork fluctuates wildly for a number of reasons--issues come out at a higher and faster volume, and there's lots of artists involved. And both Marvel and DC are frustratingly dedicated to keeping mediocre and downright crappy artists employed because...idk, bro code?

Even with that in mind, I'm kind of shocked at how bad some of the AvX art gets.

That was just a variant, though; that artist never actually did the interior art. The artists were John Romita, Jr., Olivier Coipel, and Adam Kubert.

you'd think that reading so many comics you'd think you'd gain some of immunity to bad art but clearly that is not the case

are carol's boobs located on the side of her ribcage or is her pelvis just not properly connected

Wow. That is...kind of horrifying. So Marvel can't even be arsed to do good art for their events anymore. :(

I mean, they have Carlos Pachecho, and he's all but disappeared from Marvel comics (even though he's on contract to them). The only comic artist who seems to be able to do good art despite the short turnarounds seems to be Stuart Immomen.

Or the artists who use to do the Marvel Adventures line. You don't see much of them any more.

How in the fresh hell does Larrocca and Land still get top tier work? That's what stopped making me buy comics on a whole. I can draw better than half the lot drawing comics now - and I dropped out of art school ten years ago.
