I don't mind people liking fucked up ships, I don't even mind people doing fluffy AU-ish versions of fucked up ships, but if you're going to treat those kinds of events as having happened for fuck's sake don't just gloss over them. And then there's the people who manage to go one step worse than that and place all the fault on the character being abused...

Honestly, I don't think it's that shallow to lose respect, neccessarily. Looking down on someone for liking darker stuff, yeah, but if someone is willing to excuse that kind of behavior and/or victim-blame in a fictional context, I'm not sure I could trust them not to do the same for real people.
