Ugh, especially if it gets treated the same way the 1-800-Where-Are-You series was.

The worst thing is that the series is finished, so if there was any TV adaptaion that was bad, Meg has no in-character way to snark about it, like she did with both 1-800 and Princess Diaries.

(and you know they'd somehow screw Jesse up. I don't know how, because he fits in so well with The CW-brand of smoldering-hotness-male, but it would happen and everything would be ~ruined forever~)

Thissss. I love the 1-800 books and the Mediator books (I have them all and reread them, even though I'm turning 29 in two weeks) and I was so disappointed with the TV adaptation of 1-800 that I'll be pissed if they ruin the Mediator too. :|

CW is where the shows go to rot, IMHO. CW cares more about looks and ~the sexy~ than acting skills & talent.
VD and GG both jumped the shark, anyway. (The Secret Circle was a mess from the beginning, it didn't stand a chance).

In my initial skim down the post to see if I recognise anything, I read this as Megabot. And I carried on down the post with a vague sense of being pleasantly surprised at the humanity of the android pictured on the cover.

When I scrolled back up to actually read through the secrets I was rather confused. Not I want to read this, and I don't know why.

Now* I want to read it...

Oops.

It's a pretty good series, you should try it :)

I was so excited for the Secret Circle, because I adore those books. First read them when they were published, and re read every few years.

Then I actually *watched* the show. And oh god it was so awful. I don't know how they can even call it the Secret Circle.

I always fear that the CW will one day get a hold of Forbidden Game. That was by far my favorite L.J. Smith series growing up and I couldn't bare to see them mangle it.

What if Joss Whedon got a hold of it instead?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-14 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, the series is kind of an expy of Buffy, with Suze the undead-ass-kicker and her undead-ish boyfriend, CeeCee the brain, their male friend whose name I can't remember as the jokester, and some high school drama, and some other stuff.

So I don't think Joss could legally touch it?

Mediator secret!

I agree, and I doubt I'd watch the adaptation if there was one.

There are some series I'd love to see adapted, if only because the visuals would be epic (Dragonriders of Pern, for example), but the appeal of Mediator is in A) The story and B) Meg's writing style, neither of which a tv series could improve on.
