That, rock/steel/ground/fire pokemon, SOME HOW, being able to fight all fine and dandy out of the water when your water pokemon mount is usually only big enough for you to ride on, certain pokemon learning fly and others can't, how you have to TEACH water and flying pokemon to SURF and FLY and...oh my god. The tiny ass trees that have to be cut in order to get around them, the, presumably, small ledges that you can't walk over both ways.

Yeah, the games have a lot of logic defying shit that make the show look positively amazing.

And I love both pretty equally.

And after you've taught your flying Pokemon Fly, you have to have a badge to use it... uh... because, that's why.

(seriously, I've never understood that. I get why some Pokemon of certain levels won't obey you if you don't have a particular badge--pride, I guess--but why can't flying Pokemon Fly until you've got, like, the fifth badge?)

Anyway, I still love Pokemon, even if it took physics and logic back behind the woodshed and Thundershocked them into submission a long time ago.

Oh god. Yes. Fly, Cut, Surf, rock climb, dive....why do all teh common sense moves HAVE to have a badge in order to use them? How did those pokemon even SURVIVE in the wild if they couldn't do that in the first place?

It's so ridiculous to the point of...I don;t even know.

I should be greatly annoyed with it. But I'm not too badly these days cause it's Pokemon logic. XD

And yes, poor logic and physics. Been thundershocked and body slammed one too many times.

I also love the Pokedex entries because they never make any sense. It really does sound like a child wrote some of them, and I think that adds a really neat little touch to the game.

Maybe it's just the law? Like if you're flying over the speed limit an officer will pull you over and demand to see your badges and if you don't have the badge you...have to battle, probably, since it's Pokemon.

Thanks! I'm not sure if it just came to me now, or if it was just an interpretation I've always had. I kinda like it too. I mean naturally the player character is a good, law abiding citizen...Team Rocket probably uses HM moves all the time illegally, which could explain how they can go places but are pretty weak at battling.

eta I've just been reminded that in BW and BW2 you don't need the badges but I still like this idea!

And Looker keeps an eye on the main characters in Platinum... he's just enforcing the law while he's on his mission! Truly a Poke-hero for the ages. (I love Looker. I kinda wish there was a game totally about his adventures.)

Omg I was just thinking about Looker the other day and how much I love him! Aaah, I'm trying to curb my excitement for BW2 because I'm on a budget right now and I don't want to impulsively buy it I would love anything with Looker in it. Also, the "gruntiest of the grunts" guy from Team Galactic, I've wanted fic about him forever. I kind of want a road movie or something with the two of them.

I like to think Gruntiest of Grunts (can we call him Greg?) is a perfectly nice guy, just not very bright. And Looker is competent, but eccentric. PERFECT BUDDY-COP MATERIAL!

I'm actually really curious to know more about Cynthia, too. I always liked her a lot, and I thought the random little hints about her past were interesting. We can toss her in to the buddy cop road movie, too! It'll be rad as hell.

This needs to be the next Pokemon movie, f'reals.

Also the mom from B/W, she is the best mom in all the games, she needs her own tv series. She can have a subplot in the buddy cop road movie where she is awesome and makes out with all the ladies

I don't have a DS, so I haven't played BW yet. I really wanna know more about BW-mom.

(I played the G4 games on a DS I borrowed from my stepsister years ago. XD I need to buy my own. Maybe next paycheck.)

Well, I haven't played it a long time but she's cool! Like, not annoying like certain other moms (lookin' at you gold/silver mom) and her character design is pretty and...SPOILERS towards the end of the game Looker shows up DISGUISED AS YOUR MOM and it's hilarious and I forget the details but Mom seemed friendly to Looker, it was a cute scene

Late, but there's a manga with a Galactic grunt who is essentially the "gruntiest" one. It's called Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Adventure and that character is hilarious.
