I am the opposite. Seeing a name repeated over and over annoys me to no end. I also think it depends on what type of genre it is. Hardboiled crime noir fiction practically does this "foul" every page. But it works there. And I adore that genre so much so that when I don't see the same thing in other genres, it's really jarring.

Oh my god, this. I can't stand seeing names or words or anything repeated over and over in the same paragraph, I find it totally jarring and it ruins the mood for me.

Yep, me too. I can't stand seeing names used constantly, and pronouns get awkward if there's more than one character of that gender in the scene.

I tried writing the way people who hate epithets advised one time and the constant names annoyed the hell out of me so I had to go back and change it.
