This too...it's always so jarring to see (for example) Dean Winchester say "What are you on about?" or "in hospital" or refer to Father Christmas.

"What are you on about?" sounds COMPLETELY normal to me. I wouldn't think twice if an American said that in fic. But then, I also come from an area where people use "I reckon" or "Do what now?" regularly.

I don't watch SPN, so I can't guarantee that Dean Winchester wouldn't say that. But "to hospital" or "in hospital" is REALLY jarring to me.

Dean would be more inclined to say "What the hell are you talking about" I think.
