- Prevention: make good sex education mandatory and contraceptives free/very affordable and easy to obtain. Improve the education and employment opportunities for women. Ensure that that everyone knows the definition of rape is 'sex without enthusiastic consent' and prosecute those who commit it.
- Improve natal and post natal facilities: force employers to offer parental leave that the couple can choose to split any way they like; make sure there's free-at-point-of-use healthcare; ensure daycare/kindergarten facilities for kids too young to go to school are affordable; remove the stigma against women in the workplace (women should not have to promise not to ever have kids to ensure they are treated at least semi-equally to men). etc. etc.
Above all, recognise that criminalising abortion will not stop people seeking abortions. It merely means that they will pay for unsafe 'back alley' abortions from semi or unskilled doctors and end up sufering infection or haemorrhaging that can leave them permanantly infertile or dead. If you are pro-life, you HAVE to consider the life of the pregnant person as well and banning abortion will only endanger that. In this country, we used to have entire wards dedicated to injuries caused by illegally obtained abortions. With the legalisation of abortion, they are now all gone. Legal abortion saves lives.
