This doesn't bother me when it isn't overused. I mean, I actually prefer there being other ways to pinpoint a character than keep repeating the name. It makes the text sound stiff. Also "he" and "she" can sometimes be really problematic when you have two same sex persons in the same sentence.
However, I still know what you mean. I got really irritated when in this one fic the author was repeating "the raven haired teen" all the time. It was annoying as fuck.
