I think that picture kinda explains what was wrong with it. It wasn't "Look at amusing or crappy costumes," just "Look, it's a fat person!" even if, like in that picture, it's a pretty decent costume. I think people got bored of that. There's only so long you can go "Ha-ha! Fat person!" before it gets old.

the same thing happened with lolita_fucks comms. They started out being like "lol look at this outfit" and quickly became "omg this girl is fat/unattractive!", which isn't fun at all.

But this implies that it'd be okay to mock people just for the costumes. It's really not okay to post a picture of someone without their consent and make fun of them just because their costume isn't up to your standards. It's just being an asshole for fun at the expense of others.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it's not shitty to mock cosplayers for being fat.

That's a good point. I was just saying that even among the "people who like to point and laugh at others" demographic, it came up wanting.
