So what, PAD shut them down?

Can't say I blame any writerwho doesn't want anything to do with that shithole. Not like they'd do any good discussion anyway. Though I sympathize with OP in general.

actually, the version that Marvel shut down (PAD might/might not have to do anything to do with it) was far better than the current version. Among other things, actual good discussion was made.

Including the one in the post that made PAD angry, which was about X-factor

I wish I was there when it happened, I keep hearing different accounts of what was/wasn't said. Were any screencaps saved?

It all happened pretty quickly. Everyone was caught by surprise when the community was shut down, so no caps.

Hmm, well, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I didn't see SD till it was on dreamworks.

The original LJ incarnation was pretty awesome. Warren Ellis would occasionally drop by and post scans from bizarre old comics. Shit was cash.

Oh gosh, does anyone remember that one Halloween when someone posted the Jason/Leatherface comic? And yeah, that slash-mark belongs there, because that was some of the most slasheriffic slasher stuff I ever read in a comic that was not actually supposed to be about two dudes in love. And also, chairs made of people.

I mean, the weird and obscure stuff that people would find. It was amazing.

I miss all the SuperDictionary running gags.

Having been a member of SD since the LJ days I can safely say that back then it wasn't the cesspool it has since become. Like, in the old days you could post a Shintaro Kago comic without people throwing a fit because it has rape jokes.

That being said, most of the posters are still pretty cool. It's only the mods who are complete asshats who ruin it for everyone else. I have a feeling that if there was another community to post scans most of the people would migrate there.
