I don't have a headcanon for these 2 like you OP, but I ship the hell out of them too. I wish Tarantino had adapted Basterds into a TV series like he had originally planned, then there would be more backstory for each character, shipping moments etc.

(yeah I realize after typing all that that any expansion might kill your original headcanon. Sorry!)

Not the OP, but THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED! That would have been the best, most insane series ever. IB had so much potential with each character in all of the various threads, and so little of it got explored. If it had been a series, it probably would have been like Game of Thrones, with a bazillion different threads moving around at once with so much more depth and it would have been fantastic.

I still sometimes contemplate what it would have been like with the original cast intended, particularly Tim Roth as Hicox as the role was written with him in mind. But the long time in development and the need for fluent multilingual actor(s) makes Fassy the right choice of course.
