Fastest you've ever shipped a couple?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-14 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
What ship of yours had the shortest period between the first time you saw two characters interact and the time you began shipping them?

I remember that I decided Jack O'Neill and Teal'c were completely in love about fifteen minutes into the first episode of Stargate SG-1 I ever saw, so that's my record. (Admittedly, that episode was Message in a Bottle, but anyway...)

Anyone else?

The Walking Dead's (the tv series, specifically) Michonne/Andrea. *SWISH* *SLICE*
Instant otp.
The s3 premiere tonight better not fuck up the chemistry I've been fantasizing about for MONTHS.

The Finder, Walter and Leo. I caught the first episode ten minutes in and I thought they were canonically together. They weren't.

I don't ship it. But I'll roll with it, just for a mention of Finder on F!S. Such a good show.

Oscar and Andre from Rose of Versailles, first episode when they're practicing with the swords. Years later and it's still my OTP.

Rei and Marmoru/Darien from Sailor Moon.

I hated Serena/Usagi back in the day. Her silliness and dub voice drove me insane. Yet I loved Rei, so when she had a crush on Darien, I shipped them like lightening. It pissed me off so bad when Darien got together with Serena instead.

I even made up fic where Rei and Darien were Chibiusa/Rini's parents.

But now I ship Serena/Darien completely, especially because of the re-release of the manga. And think Rei is so fierce that she doesn't need nobody (even though Chad/Rei still holds a place in my heart.)

Oh prepubescent youth.

"Your work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled....and I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster."

Hmm, about six or seven seconds, I guess? And it totally did not fail to deliver :)

It happens to me often, but probably the fastest was on Supernatural. Castiel walks into the barn, Dean immediately stabs him, 'HOMG THEY BELONG TOGETHER!'

Also, the first conversation between Tallahassee and Columbus in Zombieland. "I'm sensin' you're a bit of a bitch.." INSTANT SHIPPING.

I rewatched that Zombieland scene because this comment and "You're a peppy little spitfuck, aren't you?" You'll appreciate that in bed, Tallahassee.

I'm with you on Dean and Castiel. And once I saw it there was no way to unsee it.

The first exposure I ever had to Star Trek: Voyager was a 3-minute youtube clip from "Someone to Watch Over Me" where The Doctor is trying to teach Seven of Nine how to sing "You Are My Sunshine." My heart <3

I thought it wouldn't be as good as it seemed once I actually started watching the show, but lo and behold, it was even better. Until the end of course, but whatevs.

I shipped Varric/Hawke from the first moments of the Dragon Age 2 demo. Unfortunately both the game, and the romances that the writers delivered with it turned out to be deeply disappointing compared to my imagination.

I shipped the Ninth Doctor and Rose in the first few minutes of "Rose", but I felt it especially at that scene where he takes her by the hand and tells her that he feels the Earth hurtling through space beneath his feet, then he tells her to forget him..! This is the only clip I can find of it, sigh.

Argh, my heart.

Edward Elric and Winry Rockbell from Fullmetal Alchemist - My first vision of her was in the opening credits for the dubbed 2003 anime when she offers her hand to Ed.

That was pretty much it.

Mass Effect 2 was my first Mass Effect, and I think I shipped (f)Shepard and Garrus as soon as you find him on Omega (and realize it's him).

Five seconds into Garak and Bashir's (Star Trek DS9) first meeting, I was shipping it. If Andrew Robinson hadn't intentionally played up the subtext, it may have taken about fifteen or so.

I shipped Janeway/Seven within like, a minute of seeing them interact, Fran/Balthier almost as soon as they made their big entrance and Fang/Vanille when I saw a clip of their reunion scene before the game was even released in the states.

Get Backers, Masaki and Teshimine.

I mean, it wasn't entirely serious. The first time I saw a screenshot of Masaki, before the fansubs were out, first thought was "Holy crap, that dude looks like an older, hotter Raitei." Second thought was "...He'd look really good with Teshimine."

And then the anime went and revealed that he and Teshimine were "old friends" who had known each other since their teenage years and felt bad for having to fight each other and gave each other Very Meaningful Looks and so on.

UNF.

Dave and Lisa from Newsradio. First episode I saw was "Inappropriate". And pretty much, within their interactions just within the first episodes - arguing, going out to dinner, being awkward, and the revelation that they had got together - I was into it.

All-time OTP. There's no fic for it. There will never be fic for it, unless I write it. Well, that's life, I guess.

Although I wasn't entirely aware what it was back then, I shipped Ash and Misty about ten minutes into their first episode together.

John/Aeryn in Farscape, but I did start watching after the relationship was in progress.

I've only watched like half an ep, but Keith and David from Six Feet Under. So much chemistry :O

Ah! My Goddess. A friend gave me a plot description and talked a little about the main couple, mostly just comparing them to another one of my OTPs. I checked the show out and started watching the first episode and in the opening credits there was this adorable moment where Belldandy floats down into Keiichi's arms.

BAM. Insta-goner.

I'm still not sure how it happened.

I started shipping Troi and Worf sometime during A Fistful of Datas and have never quite stopped, though Jadzia and Worf is still my favorite Worf pairing since I shipped them about a minute after they met. Garak and Bashir were instantaneous because the chemistry was good, the subtext was great, and the actors are amazing. Neelix and Kes took me a couple of episodes just because I wasn't sure if I liked Neelix or not. I'm only at the beginning of season three of Voyager (though I've seen episodes from later on TV) and they're already laying down the build-up for Janeway/Chakotay and Torres/Paris and I am still not feeling either of them. Oh, and I ship Q with anyone just about everyone he talks to for more than a few seconds.

I ship Shockwave and Soundwave even if they never have scenes together in a canon simply because I've been shipping them since I first got into Transformers and it seems wrong and weird to ship them with anyone else.

Just saw the Avengers and after the movie was over, realized that I platonic ship all of them. But mostly Thor and Steve and a continuing mission to one day understand all the references that every one else makes. Especially if it involves the two of them watching children's cartoons or something equally entertaining. Like a soap opera.
