They don't want this collection of male characters to be with any women ever. That's what the secret says.

And that's just a biiiiit iffy.

*shrugs* Some slashers are like that with their OTPs. Still don't see it as women hate necessarily.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-15 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Hard not to see it any other way, either.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-15 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
So what exactly is it when you hate all female characters in whom your favorite male character might have an interest?

Since when does not shipping a character mean you hate them?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-15 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
It's not not shipping a character. It's having a problem with a character being with a person of a particular gender.

I mean, if the OP had said, "I hope none of them get a legitimate love interest," that would be one thing. It's the fact that they specifically said that they don't want them to have female love interests that's disconcerting.

Perhaps the immense unlikelihood of a rivalling male love interest played a role in the wording?

That's what I thought was happening. Although there is a chance that OP just sees the characters as homosexual, so pairing them with a female goes against the way OP sees the characters.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-16 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
now who's assuming

good point, the way it's worded doesn't exclude Spock hooking up with male characters that aren't Kirk, I have to assume that they'd be fine with him hooking up with McCoy or Sulu.

I don't think that this is totally female hate, this is just the last episode of slash misogynist only hot males please

So when I say I want Spock and Uhara to be together and never break up, and I hope Kirk still bangs every green girl he finds which means he can't be with Bones or Spock and thus by association I DON'T WANT KIRK OR SPOCK TO BE WITH ANY DUDES.

Am I hating all men or just homophobic?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-15 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
The OP doesn't just say that they don't want Spock to be with Uhura; they say that they don't want Spock, Kirk, or McCoy to be with any women. There's no "by association." There's no reading between the lines. It's explicitly stated.

A new ship is hopefully born.

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2012-10-15 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
of course not. it gets in the way of all the slashing.

They wish no misfortune on the women, that I can see. And there's other guys who are still avialable.

I mean, lets face it. Sulu was going to bogart all the choice ass for himself anyway. He's got room in his stable for a few more girls.

If the original series is any indication... Uhara included

multiple universes can't be wrong!

Oh My. I want this to be a canon ship. And I want to be your friend just because you had these pics.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-15 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for being the voice of reason here. There are some characters I see as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and straight. Meaning, I don't feel comfortable and will not ship het pairings concerning characters I see as gay or lesbian. But that doesn't mean I won't ship het pairings in general or hate women FFS.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-15 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm uncomfortable with the implication that you would take a canonically straight character and decide that s/he's gay/lesbian just because you want her/him to be, or take a canonically gay/lesbian character and decide that s/he's straight just because you want her/him to be.

+1

(Anonymous) 2012-10-15 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh noes gay people relate to characters in media! The horror!
