I'm in a movie fandom and we recently did a anniversary chat watch. I was shocked that I was the only one who owned a copy of the movie we've spent countless hours writing fic for, analyzing, screencapping... I mean, fuck.

Everyone else pirated. Have to admit... I was disgusted.

I would have been, too. One of my coworkers was asking me questions about recently released films earlier this week since we both like watching films. I mentioned "Paranorman" to him and he said something like, "I have [thing that lets him stream films for free but I forgot what it was called] and I pass by that movie all the time. I guess I should watch it." I gave him a, "How dare you," look and said, "Or maybe you should go to the theatres and pay to watch it."

I just get annoyed with people that I know enjoy watching films who don't pay to watch at least some movies they watch.

What's worse is when they complain about the movie they just pirated. "The special effects were bad." Yeah, well you were watching a shitty second hand filmed copy, asshole.

I pirate movies like hell, but I'm also the person who is at the movie theater twice a week seeing movies their opening weekends. I'd rather spend the $20 on two new movies than buy a copy of a movie I've already seen. /not like most people
