I'm reminded of how cool the entire rest of the world was to America when The Avengers came out weeks before we got it here. I still stayed about as involved in the fandom as I'd ever been, but I went into the movie completely unspoiled, primarily because everyone took care to label fic/art with spoiler tags and put excited rants under cuts and all.

That was really nice.

I don't think most Americans realize how good they have it when it comes to entertainment and media and takes it for granted, unlike the rest of the world.

Because most people have some common courtesy and understand that it's rude as fuck not to tag/warn for spoilers.

Though there were a fair share of assholes in the Avengers spoilers came. I had Coulson's death spoiled for me on tumblr by an anon in my ask box. >.> But yeah, for the most part people were really great after Avengers came out.

The Avengers didn't come out in my country until August.

I'd like to thank everyone that didn't spoil me and for Technophile putting spoiler marks up on Avengers' secrets.

I still would have enjoyed the movie if I had been spoiled, but the fact that everything surprised me and amazed me while watching it in the theater was great. I didn't feel like I had already seen the film when I went, and it was so nice.
