same???? i'm a fan of this too it is great

though i totally do ship eleven/rory but i only recently started really shipping it and now they've... left... (but i still haven't seen the episode in which they do leave and I'm gonna watch it later auuguh) so I'm feeling a lot of woe that they won't be able to have any more shippy interactions. ='[

Is it bad that I've been putting off starting the Nu!Who first-time watch for a long time, but this knowledge really makes me want to start?

And I LOVE the Doctor's penchant for being affectionate (especially with men).

The closest I've ever come to shipping The Doctor was with The Master, but mostly I can't imagine him being sexual for whatever reason. Then he started kissing men all randomly and I'm like, "WHOA, could you do that again?"

Me too anon. You don't find male characters willing to lock lips with other men that often even if it's briefly and not passionate. It's nice!

Hey, even if you're not into the fandom in general AT ALL, I can highly recommend the show 'Shinhwa Broadcast'. It's a Korean comedy/variety show starring a veteran idol group, with fansubs available. Korean men in general are more open with their affection for each other, and Shinhwa have been together for 15 years; they hug, they kiss, it warms the cockles of my frozen heart.

Eleven always strikes me as such a little kid at times. I agree, I love the innocent affection he just displays to people, regardless of their gender. Its nice to have a character who just displays his feelings, and doesnt worry about all that nonsense :)

Fandom didn't want any gay representation. They wanted it to be good and respectful. That's not what Moffat gave.

Except Moffatt does not want to, and never does, "give the gay". He gives explicitly "oh, no, not gay, oh noes, just kidding because that's so funneeee innit, why ever would you think so?" shit.
He's completely upfront about it.

I'd normally agree with the "Moffat is a douchebag" argument, but these episodes weren't written by him, AFAIK — and it isn't treated as "OMG TEH GAY," but as Eleven not really caring about the gender of the person he's being affectionate with. Not every man-on-man kiss is queerbaiting. Sometimes it's just an alien with a disproportionate disregard for personal space.

If this were written by anyone else then I would be excited by the character's openness, but Moffat is well-known for his queer-baiting so yeah.

I started trying to figure out who I ship the Doctor with.

Turns out I ship him with everybody.

I do like how openly affectionate he was with Rory.

But then...we got Rory and Amy's last episode. And the Doctor just does not seem to give a shit about Rory. When he finds out Rory's going to die, he's pretty much; "Oh, sucks to be him." and doesn't try to change things. When Amy AND Rory jump off the roof (what is it with your characters and throwing themselves off buildings, Moff?), Eleven screams for Amy but not Rory.

So, yeah, for all the affection, he doesn't seem to have cared much for Rory at all. Putting it down to Moffat queer-baiting tbh.
