They put those messages in greeting cards for a reason; they reach people and are generally universally good advice/sentiments/etc. Obviously at this point they are relatively cheesy and trite, but only because the sentiments have been "repeated" so much.

What I'm trying to say is I agree with you, and even if you do sound like a greeting card, at least you sound like a good one.

Sometimes I try to imagine a time when greeting card sayings actually were new and original. It seems like a nice time to be.
