Re: Punishing kids (trigger warning)
(Anonymous) 2012-10-17 12:33 am (UTC)(link)When you're aspirations for your kids are to become the next Paris Hilton, why discipline them at all? If they act like a unmotivated, lazy brat that's one step in the right direction.
Asian parents, on the other hand, need to enforce respect, discipline and the importance of hard-work if they want their kids to get to med school.
Re: Punishing kids (trigger warning)
(Anonymous) 2012-10-17 12:36 am (UTC)(link)None of the white parents I knew wanted that at all. They wanted their kids to be doctors and lawyers. I knew a girl who was pressured out of becoming a history teacher because it was not enough pay or respectful enough.
Stereotyping is really bad mmkay?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-17 01:02 am (UTC)(link)Because it might not be beauty pageants, but there is some dubious stuff. It may not be in your specific Asian culture, but 'Asian' encompasses a large amount of different cultures.
