Re: REVERSE ATTACK

This actually reminds me of how my mom and I will teasingly call each other things like asshole and bitch. And fake fight sometimes lol

We don't mean it, of course, but to other people it could probably look terrible.

TL;DR SORRY FOR THE ESSAY.

YES my mother and I are just like that! She's always like "YOU WHORE", then I say "IT TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE," etc.

My friends are kind of in awe of the relationship I have with my mom, but it's all due to the fact that she is incredibly awesome. She and I go see ALL the movies together (her favorite is Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, lol), and half the time I hang out with my friends, my mom is there, being the coolest and most badass of them all. She is really my best friend.

So I understand why some would say that "white culture" leads to disrespectful children, but I would rather be able to tell my mom ANYTHING, and get along with her like equals than be a perfect child who is scared to death of disappointing her. It helps that I am 21, so legally, we ARE equals. But even when I was younger, my parents treated me with respect, instead of handing out strict discipline at every turn. They taught, me to love learning, so I learn a lot; they taught me to be ambitious, so I am; they taught me to be my own person, and I'm definitely that, and all without a single caning, or any discipline worse than a few spankings as a young child.

And I'm not saying other cultures raise their children WRONG, either. I'm just saying that the way I was raised worked, and "white culture" =/= bad children. BAD PARENTS are generally what leads to bad children.

ayrt

yessss I've never met anyone who has that kind of relationship with their mother like I do.

I feel like respect went a long way towards my discipline. Knowing that my mother respected me curbed any really bad things I might have done. I didn't wanna lose that respect.

Well, I've done some really bad things (one really bad thing especially), and the worst consequence of all was losing the respect of my mother. I've had to work very hard to get it back, and I'm going to spend the rest of my life making sure I don't let her down again. It was much more devastating than any physical or legal punishment could ever be, and I could cry right now just thinking back on that time of my life when I knew that I had lost my mother's respect. I hurt her in a way that I will regret forever, and as a result I'm going to be a better person than I ever was before, so that I don't hurt anyone else in the same way.

(Just to be clear I didn't literally *hurt* her, but I let her down big time arghhh EMOTIONAL PAIN GO AWAY PLEASE)
