I'm of two minds about DC movies. On the one hand, I kind of wish they'd just not bother (and I loved the Nolan films.) Spandex movies tend to be little more than cheap thrills via Hollywood, which is fine really but the comics aren't always like that. (See: 90s Batman movies compared to, say, The Long Halloween.) On the other hand, don't you think it's about time DC started muscling in on Marvel's domination of comic-movie fandom?

When comics take a turn for the more serious angle, though, they also take a turn for the tremendously shitty. Cheap thrills via Hollywood is much preferable, I think.

Because let me tell you, there's a lot wrong with that statement.

No, I'm saying that a lot of "serious" plotlines in comics are shitty. They don't have to be, but they are much harder to make work when compared to easy thrills.
