If it's any consolation, I've heard rumors that Carol Danvers/Ms Marvel (Captain Marvel now) is going to show up in either Guardians of the Galaxy or Avengers 2.

And I just want Jan really badly because, well, I said this on this comm before a few months ago but basically:

Six Movie Avengers: I must protect the innocent and fight evil while I angst and hurt and try to make up for my past sins/function in a world where I don't belong/shoulder adult responsibilities/deal with my guilt complex/deal with my massive personality disorders/deal with my sadistically traumatic life/repay my debts/try to wring some good out of my shitty shitty situation/try to do something right despite being totally fucked up

Janet Van Dyne: OMG YOU GUISE BEING A SUPERHERO IS THE COOLEST THING EVER! TAKE THAT VILLAINS! *STING STING STING* WHEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

A lot of fucked up things happen to comics!her later of course, but that's where she starts :)

So Guardians of the Galaxy will cross over with Avengers? Because if they don't then it's just another case of "Single woman surrounded by penises" ...Which sounds like the name of a bad porno.

Janet sounds awesome. Very appealing to someone like me. But would they allow that in a movie version? I think people tend to run under the impression that not just superheroes, but protagonists in general have to have inner demons now.

If they put domestic abuse into the movies I don't think I would watch it.

With something like domestic abuse I think they would need to spend a lot more time on it than a superhero movie would be able to.

I love Carol but as much as I want a female powerhouse she feels redundant when we have Thor and the Hulk.

It's the same with Ant-Man, on a team that already has Tony Stark and Bruce Banner why do we need Hank Pym? Janet could fill the big sister role, rounding out the group dynamic and her power set isn't already in play.

Hank? Bleh. I wish the movie was called Ant-Man and the Wasp or The Ant and the Wasp or something, I have no interest in the movie with Hank as the main focus.

Allllllll of this. I really like Hank but he'd be redundant and be done a disservice to be shoved into the Avengers lineup. Jan would totally check off that personality gap in their lineup which, in fic, generally is partially filled by either derailing Thor or inventing a personality for Hawkeye. And her powers are completely different from any of theirs -- she could get up close, into small spaces, take advantage of maneuverability, interior attacks, sneak attacks...

Also, Tony would totally nickname her something like "Tinkerbell" :D
