i get discouraged pretty easily myself, especially if i've hit even a slight block. that's why so many of my stories are unfinished, i often takes months to get back to them. u__u

which probably says something about how effective my process is for me, lol?? as in, not very. so maybe trying different processes will end up being a good thing for me. i really don't like the idea of writing even when there's no motivation there, because i feel like mediocrity will come out of it, but i edit like crazy anyway, so if even crappy writing knocks me out of a block then that's better than just setting the story aside indefinitely.

eta: yeah i found it, in the welcome page it gives you tips and the second one says "Do not edit as you go." that would probably kill me, i can't not edit. i get the strategy behind it but i feel like editing time is always lmao.

I didn't write anything for a few years and only got back into it a few months ago, and I found that forcing myself to do it when there was no motivation actually helped make me motivated. I just started looking at it as something I had to do. I think I have two different 'modes' because sometimes I do the constant editing thing, and other times I find it easy to turn off (and yeah, the results of free-writing are usually crap, but sometimes there's something in there that is actually pretty good, and I guess the next step is to take that and build on it? I haven't actually succeeded with that step yet). But MAYBE this will work for you: instead of deleting/crossing out, just write the sentence, and then re-write it with the changes you want to make, as many times as you have to. It's like editing and free-writing AT THE SAME TIME.
