I actually have no idea what that pairing is, but with regards to RPS, I think a lot of people are squicked by it until they happen across that one pairing that just sort of clicks for them. I know before I got into my first RPS fandom, I just didn't really get it, and didn't quite get that most people who ship RPS are not crazy tinhats. The crazy tinhats just tend to be the ones that get the most attention because the wank storms that they create are like a bad train wreck you just can't look away from.

I'm the same. I suppose my attitude toward RPS was unfairly based on what I saw of batshit crazy Supernatural fans.

I agree. Fwiw, I'm pretty big on RPS but I still get squicked when it's people from my home country just because I have to completely readjust my thinking of them.

Regular fandoms are just as squicky and creepy as RPS fandoms, they just tend to get more attention because, holy shit, someone sent Justin Bieber a picture of him sucking Kanye's dick is a little bit more news-worthy in an OMFG WHY??? way than Wolverine doing the same to Sabertooth because the latter are fictional. I would even say live action TV fandoms are crazier and more potentially squicky than RPS because you often have RPS and regular fandom.
