I am on board with this but only if Piers is still mutated for MAXIMUM ANGST POTENTIAL and Chris' other partners (Jill, Sheva, Rebecca*) make appearances too.

*Jessica can sit this one out

I would like the idea that Piers was rescued by Neo-Umbrella somehow and was brainwashed into attacking Chris in a sequel...if that hadn't happened already with Jill :p

If they bring him back I hope they do something cool

Wasn't really thinking about being brought back as an enemy, I'd just like his mutation to be permanent. No cure, no removing or hiding the obviously infected parts, Piers has to live with his transformation while keeping a mostly human mind. SO MUCH ANGST FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED.

So much this. When Chris wanted to leave Piers his legacy, I was starting to look forward to him being passed some of the torch for future games. Way to create a dream I didn't know I wanted and then crush it (and then laugh at my pain), RE. :(

I've been into this series since I was a kid. I should have known better.

I know! Fucking Capcom did amazing with this RE imo in the writing department. It paced and flowed better and didn't leave me scratching my head as to what the hell happened. The people who bad mouthed it when they "reviewed" it just wanted to complain. I bet they didn't even go past Leon's chapter, at best, the prologue.

If Chris died, yeah, I would've bawled my eyes out of their sockets. If he got to live but still retired while leaving Piers in charge, I'd still be sad, but I'd have looked forward to seeing more from Piers. First Steve (who I've adored since Code Veronica!) and now Piers? Keep crushing my heart, Capcom. :( Least the fandom appreciates him enough to try and keep him "alive".

They definitely did a better job with the story, yeah. It seemed a lot more character oriented. There were still some things I was scratching my head about (like the complete exclusion of Jill from Chris' storyline), but overall they did a good job covering all the bases through three separate campaigns.

Chris should have just gotten to retire, man. Instead, he just lost his entire team. Again.

yeah where the hell was Jill when Chris had his meltdown? Shouldn't she be the one to travel to Edonia to smack some sense into him?

mte. She wasn't mentioned at all in the main storyline. Even one cameo would have been enough. It's bizarre that she also has a lot to do with the BSAA, and yet is a total no-show.

But yeah, I admit that my biggest wtf moment was that they didn't even mention what she was doing while Chris was roaming around as a drunk amnesiac for months. This is the guy that basically tore shit up looking for her when she was missing.

Well, is it stated (pretty sure it has been) how long she was under Wesker's control? I assumed it'd been since her going out the window at the Spencer Estate til Chris and Sheva had rescued her.

I doubt that Wesker and Excella were interested in her welfare in terms of actual food and the like. I wouldn't be surprised if she'd been on leave to go on temporary recovery to regain her actual strength and undergo psychological assessment.

Yeah, she could fight while traveling with Josh, but she still seemed really woozy on her feet in RE5.

That's true, though I still would have liked for them to have mentioned something about what she was doing, whether it was on leave or not. Even just in the files or something. It's like a 3/4 year period between RE5 and RE6, did they just lose contact in that time? Give me something, CAPCOM. :(

fun story: my brother posted about this game to FB the other day but autocorrect made him say "President Evil 6" and the whole thing exploded in political wank. it was hilarious.

That is hilarious! That title was actually an affectionate joke before the game came out.

I've been really torn up about this too, I feel like he and Chris had something SUPER special and I was looking forward to seeing Piers in future games. They seem to like to kill off characters that can be interpreted as perhaps gay....maybe it's just me seeing it like that, but....that's how I saw Luis and that's how I see Piers.

(I ship Chris/Piers, but I'm not sure whether Piers is intended to be gay or not. I do like the fact that outside of Leon/Ada there's no heterosexual romance in RE and so everything is left open to interpretation)

Personally I always disliked any implications of Ada & Leon. To me, he seems to be the gayest character, though there was a playthrough on RE2 (I think if you chose to play Claire first) where he kissed her. I always viewed their relationship as this mysterious thing where he's more fascinated by her than romantically attracted to her, and perhaps the kiss was more of a "granting a dying wish" sort of a thing than anything else. But this may be me with my gay goggles on, who knows. At any rate I really feel like they went the wrong direction with Piers, I think Helena would of been a better choice if they HAD to kill someone off, simply because her story arc was complete and she had come full circle.

I wish they hadn't killed him in the first place. Tbh, I think it should have been Chris instead. Would make more sense with his character arc.

As for him coming back, it's usually just the villains in RE who get to come back over and over and over. The "good" usually stay dead. ;_;
I don't know how I'd feel about that, because it would be cheap; like Capcom can't stick to their own ideas.
