I'm, personally, having trouble finding the right situation for some of my gifs. Makes me sad. But when the moment comes when I can use them...

Usually once I get started with gifs, I just use all of the funny ones I can think of, whether they are appropriate to the situation or not. I try to start with just one relevant gif to start with, though.
