Seriously, why is everything these days "super-ultra mega-special limited edition?" It's like the only merchandise that ever comes out for anime or manga is either super high-quality limited figures with gigantic price tags...or bizarre, flimsy limited goods (like small pillows and keychains) with gigantic price tags for what they are. It seems like the only stuff out for a reasonable price are blind box and prize machine things, which are still priced for more than they are worth and are tiny as all get out.

And don't get me started on "Anime x Popular Fashion Brand" collaborations. The merchandise they put out is not only unholy wicked expensive, it's often only barely related to the show in question. I'm talking like $150-$200 T-Shirts with the franchise logo on one sleeve and an unrecognizable abstraction of someone/something from the show on the front. Like, are you even serious? What the fuck is that? Nobody can even tell what the fuck that is, take that shit back to the design room!

Geeze, I just want some regular quality, good-sized merchandise at around the $20-$50 level that isn't some (limited) dinky keychain or a (limited) flimsy little pillow. I love figures, statuettes and shit, but when it's like $70 for one I just have to put on the breaks and say "OH HEEEELLL NO."

Kinda feel you! It really depends; I hardly go for key chains and whatnot because it's basically the same promotional images slapped onto everything and they ARE expensive. Out-of-the-ordinary stuff like dishes that are from a show/game are pretty cool, though; I really like my Junes mug, although I wish it used the actual color palette instead of pink? If those D-Shop Jack Frost/Black Frost/Raiho mugs didn't sell out, I would have gotten one of them! I might order Naoto's glasses soon and replace the lenses with real ones when they come out.

A lot of figure companies are raising prices and I don't enjoy it. Max Factory's Aoba is like 14,000 yen and while it's 1/7 and looks pretty good, Alter's 1/6 Aegis was still cheaper! Megahouse is ridiculous if they expected full price to paid for their Yukiko! It's irritating, but at the same time it's nice, when companies focus on one show and the same character (mainly thinking of GSC where popular characters will inevitably receive a scale figure, Nendoroid, AND Figma) so if I don't care about them, I don't have to worry for a while. But, I didn't want an Aegis as a Labrys recolor. I wanted anyone else from P3. Another problem is that people try to sell off their unwanted figures at double the cost maybe a month after it's released; a markup for shipping is expected, but not that much!

This...really just turned into a small rant about figures :V You have a point, though, many things are definitely overpriced.
