Rolling with the movie theme from yesterday

[personal profile] morieris 2012-10-20 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw Vampire's Assistant - why did they change so much from the book? I'm not talking about changing up the story past a point (thought it was not very strong), just why these extra randoms and not using the correct terminology and lore? I'm actually pleasantly surprised the war was put into action.

What was the last movie you saw, and did you like it?

Wake In Fright (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067541)

Brilliant movie. I was expecting it to be pretty good, but not as good as it actually was. It was bizarre and brutal and disturbing and a disguising kind of beautiful. Loved it. Best movie I've seen in a long, long time.

I haven't read VA, but omg I loved that movie. SO RIDIC. :D

Last movie I saw was half of Spider-Man on an airplane (I liked what I saw!) and before that.. hmm... I think ParaNorman in 3D. It was so great, too.

Last movie I saw in the theater was Avengers when it reopened for labor day weekend. Last movie I watched at home was Thor.

I watched Chernobyl Diaries the other day. It looked shit from the trailers and absolutely disrespectful of the disaster so naturally I had to see it.

Actually... it wasn't bad, aside from some flat characters and falling apart towards the end, it did a fantastic job of building suspense and being careful not to show too much for the first two thirds or so of the movie. The segment in the kitchen was so tightly wound it could've snapped.

Very disappointed with the reasoning behind the scary, though. (spoiler: mutants. Boring!)

I just watched Back to the Future for the first time yesterday. I liked it! I was going to marathon the entire trilogy but the second DVD kept skipping.

Red Lights.

And, yes, I liked it. Even the twist at the end where everyone else and their mother hated it.

My only problem with it was the setting was an American university with professors. However, the glut of the actors weren't American so they had to put on fake American accents. And they weren't so hot. They could have just played with their normal Irish, Welsh and English accents and it would not be far fetched to have foreign students and professors working at an American university.

Cillian Murphy killed me every time he said one of the main character's names, "Silver." Because no matter how hard he tried it came out with his thick Irish accent. "Silver" is one of those words that is really hard to fake an American accent with.

The Mummy, and I loved it just as much as the last hundred times I watched it. :)

Scott Pilgrim vs the World. It was pretty great. :D Before that I watched Prometheus, which sucked, and before that I watched the Cabin in the Woods, which was pretty great too.
