You're right about the money. Absolutely.

But, as I've said up-thread, I don't think there's a problem with streamlining the costume. New materials exist to work with. The WWII costume everyone's references was cobbled together from what Steve could find in the middle of the war. Granted it got an upgrade but why not upgrade it again?

Also, as someone else pointed out, its a shift from super solider to super hero.

Yeah, that makes sense, but I still wish it wasn't quite as ridiculous-looking as it was in the film. Seriously, a more flattering cowl, a more practical texture, and less garish colors, that's all I need.

I just assume that SHIELD, being the deliciously sly fuckers they are, was angling for maximum PR and propaganda and nostalgia-goggles and recognizability potential (hmm....almost like the Marvel execs who produced the movie! Don't think I haven't lol'd over the fact that, in many respects, Joss=Fury and Marvel Studios=SHIELD) and Steve is totally the type of guy to go "okay, fine, if they say it'll raise morale, I have no problem wearing this ridiculous thing".

Also, can't say the uniform didn't let me ogle every unobscured inch of his body on multiple occasions throughout the film, which is definitely a plus ;)

I think you've nailed it here. lol Though... Marvel Studios = World Security Council in my head. ;) LOL

Both costumes were very ogle worthy. But yeah... not a whole lot getting in the way of the ogling in the Avengers version. That is for sure. LOL

I never thought I'd say this about the female gaze, but it's so generous it almost approaches male gaze-levels of annoying at times. Not quite, but almost -- when it occurs in really tense and serious scenes:

O.O

No complaints here.

...it totally looks like Tony is looking at somebody's crotch in that scene. His eyes are way too low.

...I agree

no complaints tho
