I actually created a board for "fans over 20" in a fandom where most of the fanbase were teens and younger, because some of them were not welcoming to "old geezers" like us, and because I wanted conversations a bit more elaborated than "OMG HE'S SOOOOO CUTE!".

We did welcome fans under 20 who wrote properly and not in netspeak, though.
It's not a question of age, more of priorities. In the end though, 30 and 40-somethings don't always behave or post any better than some teens...

But I admit, at times it was also a relief to not be flooded by posts about "whine whine my parents don't understand me" and "school sucks!".
