True. I was thinking of what I think was an old Mercedes Lackey series. Not the one with the cars, though that one had evil elves too, but the one with the elves enslaving humans. And there were dragons, maybe. She co-wrote it with someone else?

Forgotten Realms has a lot of evil elves as well, not just members of the evil by default Drow.

Oh, OK.
Terry Pratchett/Discworld has evil Elves as well (Lords and Ladies).

That's the one I was going to mention. In English folklore, elves were baaaaad, and Pratchett essentially made them psychopaths. Then he riffed on why everyone thinks elves are good and beautiful. (Hello, everyone; remember a little magical ability called "glamour"?)

That would be the Halfblood Chronicles, by Lackey and Norton: The series wiki page.

I really liked it as a teen, or at least the first two, since #3 wasn't out yet. Evil human-enslaving elves, indeed!

Yeah, I liked it too! The third one came out, but I don't think I liked that one for some reason. My memories are pretty fuzzy.

I keep eyeing the third one every time I'm at the book store, but I'd need to reread the entire series...and I'm worried it won't be nearly as good as I remember, now I'm all grown up. Woe!

Holy shit, that brings back memories.

Yeah, it's just sometimes I forget exactly how many fantasy series I simply consumed back in high school.
