Because to many religions, demons are *not* imaginary. I know LOTS of people who completely believe in demons 100%, and would be horrified at the concept of Demon/Human romance while they'll read the everloving shit out of Twilight.

True- for many demons are something (in their view) to be factual rather than imaginary. Ah memories. But honestly I don't see why religious folks would like vampires too much either even if they believe they're fictional. Sure twilight promotes abstinence but vampires generally don't have SOULS in fiction. Also the blood sucking of course. But damn it! They've got no soul. They're like demons on lite as it were IMO.

Vampires are well, maybe the lesser of two evils compared to demons maybe but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if some folks saw vampires as a fictional'gateway drug' to lusting after those damned demons.

Not as bad- but still bad from a religious perspective. Though actually with vampires non-religious people have a reason to feel a bit skeevy over it too. They suck human blood after all and someone dating something which labels them 'dinner' is more than a little strange. Though of course that's part of the appeal for many- the danger involved in such a fantasy.
