Also, given me a literal shoulder to cry on when I was in a bad place.

A friend bought me a knit Nepeta kitty hat that had the horns already sewed in.

~~Well, I wouldn't call them 'a fandom friend' anymore (just 'friend' will do), but...~~

Listened to me rant and put up with my presence in general.

One of my friends paid for me to change my LJ username after I wrote a fic about her dachshund, which was totally rad of her. Also, an anonymous someone (never found out who) got me a couple of months of premium membership to DevArt, which was also totally rad.

I went to buy a seed account here back when DW first offered them, and my payment wouldn't go through. I panicked because they were a limited thing and initially the idea was that they'd never be offered again, so I tried again... still wouldn't go through, but it claimed I had a seed account. Finally opened a support request saying it wouldn't let my payment go through because it thought I already had a seed account. Got a reply saying someone else had gifted me one. o_O

I had someone buy me a perm account on LJ too. I do know who it was that time. I wish I knew of ways to repay that person, and whoever it may have been on DW if it was someone else...

(Although possibly technically the nicest thing a fandom friend has ever done for me was support me through terrible times and laugh with me during good times and move 800 miles to live with me and propose to me at the convention hotel where we first met in person. But she was more than a fandom "friend" through most of that. Heh.)

Bought me an external hard drive for Christmas. :)

I had gotten into a rather nasty, emotional fight with a family member and it basically ruined my entire day (and nearly ruined my relationship with said family member). I told my fandom friend about this online, just to vent.

The next morning I had this massive, beautiful flower arrangement delivered to me from her. She lives in Australia, and she looked up the area I live in here in the U.S., found a local (and best) florist, and ordered a personalized arrangement for me.

This friend has done so many other wonderful things for me, but that is one moment that stands out to me the most. I've found in general, that the fandom I'm in (which is probably dead, but Idc) has allowed me to meet some of the greatest people I've ever had the privilege of knowing (and is one of the reasons I won't ever let go of it).

One of my fandom friends wrote a fanfic for me. To be more specific, she wrote it for a pairing that I assumed she's not particularly fond of. We were playing this game where you have to do any kind of dare, and plenty of friendly ribbing took place in the name of fun. So long story short she came out with a humorous smut fic that was her dare from me, and was really well written. It's one of the best fics I've ever read for the pairing, and she's not even a shipper of it. I've been going through stressful times lately and her humor fic was exactly the thing I needed, and I'm glad to read that she enjoyed writing it herself.

Stayed up into the wee hours of the morning texting me to keep me sane as I sat by my father's bedside and watched him die.

I'll never forget that. It's not a kindness easily repaid.

Helped me get out of an emotionally abusive relationship.

I've met some pretty amazing people through fandom. \o/

She came to visit me, and we went on vacation together!

Write me fic

Received a couple of gifts - like physically, in the mail - of merch from our fandom. It's hard to get a lot of that stuff in my country without paying lots for shipping, and they wouldn't take compensation :)

They went to a con and met my favorite artist, Todd Nauck. They got him to draw a picture of my favorite character, Arrowette, for me. He even personalized the signature. It was the nicest thing, I never thought a fandom friend would do something like that.

I unfortunately lost touch with her after a bunch family tragedies happened back to back (and resulted in an breakdown for me). But if you're out there Wolverbunny, I loved you and I miss you.

All my friends are just ridiculously supportive whenever I have anxiety over stupid shit which is basically all the time. I would probably be a lot more awkward IRL if not for the friends I've made online.

I think at this point so many of my fandom friends have crossed over into being real life friends that it's hard to say what the nicest thing is. I've stayed with them when I was away from home, cried on their shoulders, chatted with them late at night when I couldn't sleep. My fandom friends have made me laugh until I couldn't breathe and sent me cards just because. They've just been unbelievably generous. Yay fandom!

Went out of her way to find goodies from a fandom she knows I like but herself doesn't care much for, just because she thought I would like them. I loved them to pieces and thanked her profusely.
