And commenting is not option because...?

Oh, right, why waste our time with words when we could have the option of voting negatively against something we don't like, even if it's for subjective reasons, so other people avoid it.

So why do we have kudos when people could just use their words to express their approval? Your agurment could work as well against kudos, and that's the real issue: that there is a way to give feedback that is slanted in a positive direction. Some people would like it to go the other way, and that's reasonable.

No it isn't, because fanfic is free-ass entertainment, so the feedback SHOULD default positive.
