Yeah, I was going to say this. You must be in a nerdy industry or something because talking about comic books would not endear me to anyone. o_O

and isn't the hot topic in male dominated, nerdy industries usually video games, anyway?

maybe op's co-workers are getting all their comic book knowledge from marvel: ultimate alliance.

DA

Not necessarily? I work for the state, and comics are a pretty common topic. It probably varies by area, though.

what comics? the walking dead?

legit question. i'm always surprised when people mention they know heaps of folks irl (well, i'm assuming from the info that it's water cooler worthy topic in your and the secret's op's workplaces) who read comics because official numbers for comic book readership - http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomicssales.html - aren't really that great.

there's piracy and all, of course, but still. small numbers.

Well, background would probably help. :) I work with a lot of older men who grew up on comic books, and we form the engineering and IT department for our state's DOT. So, nerdy profession, if not exactly in the industry.

*same anon as above*

Oh, sorry, you asked which comics. Batman and Superman mainly, occasional Spiderman fan.

da

By sheer coincidence a lot of my coworkers are comic readers or artists...and my immediate coworkers on my team are all gamers (our particular team is more likely to attract those who can entertain themselves at a desk on a computer without internet though.)

I work in a nerdy industry (software dev), and the topics really, really vary from person to person? Oddly enough, food is the icebreaker that works most regularly.
