Weeeeell, technically, I think Batman and Robin sucking so much is what put the kibosh on a potential Gotham Central series--Warner didn't want to risk another live-action fiasco.

But I've never been a "stop early to keep it good!" fan because even when things start flagging, there's still some good storytelling that can come out of it. I'm a big M*A*S*H fan; everyone always says it got bad toward the end, and it's kind of hilarious that a 3-year war lasted 11 seasons, but it ended with "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen" and that was worth it.

Plus, the reckless spender in me figures the more movies/series they get, the more swag they put out. I can't wait to buy a bunch of official "Agent of SHIELD"-type stuff.

Oh yes! MASH is the best counterexample because it just kept getting better and better with each season. And "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen"... I still remember how my friend and I started the VCR at 1am (because German TV thought it was a great idea to show that movie in the middle of the night) and we only meant to watch the first few minutes but it was so amazing that we stayed up till 4am to watch the entire thing.

Deep Space Nine also stayed excellent though seven seasons. And Buffy and Angel, though probably half the fandom disagrees with that. Terminator II is worlds better than I. (Of course, then they should've ended it but can you know that in advance? ;)
