It'd be one thing if they just had Mr. Slave leaving because "I'm gay! I don't like vaginas!" But along with everything else that happened in the episode, the scene basically acted like Garrison was wrong and shouldn't have gotten the sex change because of how it made Mr. Slave feel.

except that if you're making a decision that profound you should at least talk it over with your partner beforehand so that they can get used to the thought and decide if they can handle it or not. some people can. some people, like mr slave, cannot. it IS something that WILL affect more than one person, and if mr slave was unable to handle a sexual relationship with mrs garrison (instead of mr garrison) then that was something that mr garrison should have tried to find out before becoming mrs garrison. if becoming a woman was important enough to him that he was willing to give up being with mr slave for it, then he should have figured all that out before becoming a woman. but he basically assumed that mr slave would have zero issues with it despite knowing that mr slave was only attracted to men. kinda short-sighted imo

Since you haven't commented on the other scenes that were mentioned and only on this one, should I assume you agree they were transphobic?

...huh? all i'm saying is that it's dumb to spring something on your partner that'll have such a profound effect on your physical relationship. other nonny was going on like it was phobic of the show to act like mr garrison should've thought of mr slave's feelings about suddenly being in a het relationship.

Are you the previous poster who was saying the ep wasn't transphobic because garrison was still a woman at the end?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
and we're saying that that's not a thing that usually happens in relationships involving a trans person and it's really transphobic to put the issue in that light and act like it's the trans person's fault for just wanting to take care of a basic biological wrong that profoundly and negatively affects their life EVERY DAY.

Framing is important.
