Rosanne is a president candidate? I don't understand how this works. I thought America just had two parties and they do the primary in them and then a general election with those winners.

We have two parties with any chance at all of winning. Almost anyone can say they're running. Making it onto the ballot is more difficult.

i live in the state of california, there are 6 candidates for president on the california ballot this year: democrat, republican, american independent party, green party, libertarian, and peace and freedom party

you can vote for whichever one you want, but the democrats or the repubicans are the only ones with a chance of winning [this is called by some 'the problem with the two-party system']
