I thought that the point was that it wasn't an endearing quality? That it was part of why Milo felt so alone, and that's why it's such a big deal with Audrey is the first person to go to Milo's side, and turn away from Rourke- because she used to "take lunch money from guys like [Milo]", and now here she is, at his side, willing to help him stand against the bad guy.

This. I'm pretty sure it was used to show both that she's starting to see value in Milo, and show why it's a big deal that she's the first one to change sides. It's used to show character growth.

So, it's actually worse taken out of context, than it is left in it.
