pre-internets would be my guess, anon, especially for 'resevoir dogs'. plus 'rd' is a one-time film [no sequels,prequels, or multiple episodes and seasons that 'oz' has] with a smaller fanbase, so you're less likely to find fic authors there. i'd also say 'rd' is more obscure than tarantino's other films [probably the same reason there's little to no 'mean streets' fic, even though it's as perfect for fic as 'resevoir dogs' is, and yes i know 'mean streets' is scorsese and not tarantino lol].

again, just my theories here. i have no idea why the 'oz' fandom doesn't have a lot of fic...

Another vote for "pre-internet" or at the very least "pre-internet fandom". To the best of my knowledge X-Files was the fandom that sort of first transitioned into the internet, and Buffy was the first internet-native English language fandom, and they were both on broadcast, rather than HBO back in the days where almost no one had HBO.

Which is sad, because I love both Oz and Reservoir Dogs and would like places to squee about them. :/

There was an Oz fandom online while the show was running. I was part of it, and I remember it being pretty big (and almost exclusively Beecher/Keller). It was before there were centralized multifandom archives, though, so I have no idea where the fic is at now.

I remember Gemma Files because she's a bit famous now, and because her Oz fic was awesome. Can't think of any other good recs now.

There is an oz_slash community (not sure about the exact spelling of the comm name), they have quite a few Beecher/Keller fics and some rec lists as well, IIRC.

It's the pre-internet thing. It's why there's hardly any Vaughn/Sark fic out there. Which is a shame, Alias was 2001-2006, there should be more fic for them! Or was it too early ...

Psh, I was *heavily* into an online fandom 2001-2003. Buffy predated that, too. So did X-Files, all online. Maybe Vaughn/Sark just sucks?

Definitely not too early. I was in LOTR fandom in 2001, and it was HUGE until about 2004.

Also in HP and POTC fandoms around 2003. 2001 isn't too early at all.

idk, there are a lot of pre-internet fandoms that thrived pretty well. Star Trek, for one. And Due South had quite a lot of activity (there's over 4,000 fics on Ao3 alone and I know there are a couple of more archives that are fairly large)

And fandom definitely doesn't have a problem with criminals.

It seems like people have at least discussed if not written about the Orange/White thing for a really long time. There is definitely some fic for RD, but I do feel like there would be more if it had come out ten years later.

Goggle is your friend. Use it to find the still-active Oz fandom that's been all over the internet since the night the pilot aired.

Oz used to have a huge fandom, OP. Not Buffy/Harry Potter/Avengers big or anything, but huge for a niche HBO show. Do some more searching, you'll find it.
