The tag was "Come zombie apocalypse, people realize what's important and what things they can do without." And one of the main things people learn isn't important is feminism, as all the women learn that they don't want anything but to be protected.

IIRC, the "find out what's important" bit is actually on the back of the first graphic novel, and there's a scene with the women doing "ladies work" (the laundry) and talking about how they don't care about all that silly feminism stuff, and a later scene where when they decide on their leaders and one guy comments that there isn't a single woman on the team and another guy says something like "they don't care about that, they just care about being protected."

But you can ask some other people who read the comics since it pains you so much to admit I'm right.

I mean ACTUAL issues so I can look it up and see what the proper context is/who's saying it.

But even then... if we're talking about the end of the world of course survival is going to be the top priority for most people.

That hardly means the women in the group are just looking to be protected...one of them, Andrea, learns to be a sniper and becomes one of the most valued members in the group when it comes to threats.

I have read the comics which is why I'm asking you to point to the specific issues so I can look them up as I don't feel like perusing 100+ issues.

Although I just looked up one of the scenes and it turns out you were wrong. He wasn't saying "the women just want to be protected" -- he was speaking of the entire group in general. The entire body of people had a vote and decided that four specific in people should call the shots. And not because they were men but because they had the most experience in the field.

The clothes washing scene, right? I abanoned the comic as soon as I read that, but, supposedly according to fans it gets better.

Enough so that I gave the show a shot. Ugggghh, feminism aside though, the shot is a goddawful piece of shit and after a whole season on that fucking farm with fucking baby daddy drama all up in my fucking zombie apocalypse, that was quite enough, thank you.

So I have no idea if it does actually get better or not.

That comic was so full of tropes that I can't stand the clothes washing scene was a drop in the bucket, admittedly.

Armored solders carrying assault rifles? Dead meat, faced with a handful of zombies! But the Lone American Cowboy Hero with a six-shooter? Perfectly fine!

Ya know what human teeth can't bite through? Kevlar. Where are their shields? Why doesn't the Lone Ranger have a personality? Why does his wife exist solely to cause conflict between the two male leads? Why isn't anyone else in their group armed? Why is nothing happening for an entire season?

Goddamnit, I love zombie apocalypses, but fuck was that a miserable waste of time. People keep saying "but Michonne!" but I can't bring myself to watch the third season. It feels like a trap. They'd told me the other seasons were good, and that was a lie black enough to land them in the 9th circle of hell.

Wanna know what else stops human teeth? A leather or jean jacket. Hell, any reasonably tough fabric. Why are you idiots wandering around with exposed skin? And yeah, Michonne is cool but there's just such a "Jesus, fine, here's a minority character and a woman and a badass so stop griping about how the rest of the characters suck," vibe to her that it just annoys me more.

Needless to say, I've stopped reading and watching.

I mentioned the whole "a stiff canvas jacket would stop 99% of the bites, too" to a group of friends watching it and their response was "but it's hot outside!".

...All except one of them, who'd done a tour in Afghanistan, who looked at them like they were the world's greatest idiots and said "you know how hot 30 kilos of body armor is? But somehow I never thought I'd be better off without it".

So, between the constant threat of death and mild discomfort, I'm sure we'd see natural selection in action.
