Man the whole freeing the Disir storyline was awesome, probably my favorite subplot in JiM. I'm a little sad that I haven't found, like, any discussion about it. :(

IA that Thor's characterization in Everything Burns is a mess, but it didn't bother me as much as it could have. Part of this is because Thor's characterization has sucked ever since Fraction started writing him and part of it is because I could at least blame some of his shittiness on end-of-the-universe stress. I can't do the same in TMT. :/

I agree with the first part of your secret, but I have to say - the only reason Thor's characterization was so off the wall terrible in Everything Burns was because every other issue was written by Matt Fraction and he can't write Thor worth shit. So we have this ridiculously inconsistent characterization of poor Thor - in the Journey Into Mystery issues he's pretty great, but whenever Fraction steps in to write him for the issues of The Mighty Thor, he's terribly over the top violent and ridiculous and... yeah.

The assemble cast is way awesome. I do feel confused when I see JiM recced merely as a Thorki classic when, while his brother is important in Loki's life and there are sweet scenes, it's not really the whole point of the comic and Thor is barely in it. I wonder how many of the shippers see this as a chance to draw normal Thor/Loki fanart in AU shotacon flavor.

Don't get me started about Fraction's Thor in general, but now that the whole thing is out it is pretty obvious that Everything Burns was in most part his thing and it sucked a lot. It did give a lot of feelings with those cliffhangers and tough scenes, but the plot! Ugh, the aftermath didn't even solve any of the initial problems! The Thor+Loki relationship was like a pendulum depending on who was writing that week! It was pretty bad.
