Not a fic writer, but I hear you!

Talking to my friends who had "normal" childhoods and families is like talking to someone from an alien culture... I'm like Waait you don't have to hide any alcohol you might have in your possession before your mom visits? And you have family dinners? And none of your family members are in jail? What kind of alien world do you live in... Anyway enough complaining from me I'm not really that bad off compared to most people. Just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone!

This was me during the "spanking/slapping your child" wank we had a few months back. I spent most of the thread wondering what was so wrong with my childhood that I thought the occasional slap was okay.

(And I still do, so it's probably a good thing I don't ever plan on having kids.)

Yes. I don't remember the exact date, but this one was at least a few months old. There was also one that pre-dates the move to dreamwidth, so this is actually a pretty common wank topic, I think.
