Basically, he gets merged/absorbed into Old Loki. Kid Loki is gone and what we get now is regular Loki running around in the kid's body.

Adult!Loki stole his body and took over, hoping to leave the rest of the comic universe believing he's still kid!Loki, and that was his plan all along, at least as far as I understand it.

One of Loki's schemes comes back to bite him in the ass and old Loki tells him the only way to save billions of people from dying is to annihilate himself by 'swallowing the lie' ie Ikol, so that old Loki can take possession of his body. According to old Loki, doing this will make kid Loki cease to exist, which will make the Fear Crown (which is crafted out of kid Loki's fears and nightmares) cease to exist, which saves billions of people from Mephisto, who had gotten a hold of the Fear Crown.

Kid Loki is given three last conversations. He uses one in a last-ditch and failed effort to get the Disir to consume him because he'd rather the entirety of Loki be completely obliterated than let old Loki take advantage of the good name he's built up for himself, he uses another to (spoilerspoiler you didn't ask about this so I'm not going to tell you), and the last one he uses to beg Thor to kill him if he goes bad.

Then he goes back and tells Ikol that he won, because one of old Loki's lines when they first met was "Loki would only ever sacrifice himself for Loki" and kid Loki has decided to sacrifice himself for the sake of billions of people he doesn't know. Then kid Loki eats the magpie, all while telling old Loki that he (old Loki, that is) has just proved that he could never, ever change.

It's sad, okay. Ridiculously, hideously, horrifically sad. :(
