Notes:

To the anon that wanted warnings on .gif secrets: I'm not sure how I could effectively implement that. For triggery or spoilery secrets, one could just not read the text, but for .gifs by the time you get to the warning, it's already moving in your field of vision. If you have a suggestion as to how it could be done without just linking the secret (it's not breaking any rules or containing porn or gore, so that wouldn't be fair), let me know. Putting it in the notes for now.

16 is a .gif, by the way.

Vertigo!Anon here.

Thank you but I already have configured firefox at home. The issue is that I check on my lunch break at work on my phone. And there is no option to stop the moving gifs there.

Thanks!

Gifs don't move on my phone when I use the Opera browser.

Depends on the phone. Most older Android phones don't support animated GIFs; the newer ones have an option to disable it. Alternate browsers are often a great option. It's a similar situation for iPhones - older ones may not support them correctly, newer might have an option, though from what I can find, Safari does not have any kind of toggle for animated GIFs, so an alternate browser would be a good idea.

Honestly, vertigo!anon, I would do a little bit of searching around and try a different browser or two on your phone. If it's a new Android phone, like the Galaxy S3 or similar, in the default browser you can go into Settings - Advanced - Enable GIF Animation; just uncheck it. Other phones, I don't have directions handy, which is why I'd suggest doing a little searching and try alternate browser options.

Vertigo!Anon here.

I've already stumped the techs at Verizon and I must have an older Android (I didn't think a year old was old) since I did follow your directions and I don't have the option to enable gif animation. I'll look into alternate browsers, but we'll see.

Thank you for all the suggestions. Most I've known since I've had vertigo for almost two years now. I've only recently started back at work where F!S goes up while I'm there and not home.

Of course the simplest option is just wait until I get home. Which is up to Case/Technophile to make the call if warning pre-cut is too much.

Try Opera Mini. Free download from the Play Store, and because it's a super-stripped-down browser, it doesn't support GIF animations at all. It's also designed to save on data use, by using a lot of compression, so you might find that some pages look weird.

Other options you could look at would be Dolphin Browser, Opera Mobile, Skyfire, or Firefox, all free. They're all a little bulkier than Opera Mini, but tend to have a lot more configuration options than the built-in browser, and may have the option to disable GIF animations (while still loading the images). I don't have the ability to check easily right now, sadly, but I've used all of them at one point or another and remember being pretty happy with the options and performance.

Best of luck, though; the animations don't bother me to the point of being a problem, but it can be pretty startling. I hope you find a solution that works, in the end.
